My Notice date is 9/10/2007. I haven't received any finger print notice from TSC. I called the USCIS 2 months ago. The gentlemen was nice, but that doesn't help. I received a letter saying they had to response to the ticket in 45 days, but there was no progress for the finger print notice. The only thing I could do is to wait.
Based on the suggestions on this board, I scheduled a local Infopass to get my Finger print done. This process was smooth, and the local officer ordered a I-485 Biometrics for me. After I finished that, I noticed this might be wrong because they only finger printed my index finger and took a picture but all of my friends got 10 finger and the palm full-set finger print. So I went back to the office and told them the issue. The manager over there was very nice, he called the original officer who ordered the finger print for me. And he called another officer to verify if I should have the I-485 full set finger print instead of the biometric. The answers were the same. The full set finger print is for FBI background checking, which won't start until the name check is done. Since the name check is time consuming, and the finger print expires in 15 months, most people had the finger print again and again. It is a waste of money and the applicants time as well. So they won't send finger print notice if the name check is not done yet. Maybe that is the reason for some TSC filers, just like me, haven't got the finger print notices. I am thinking it is a new and reasonable policy.
I asked what are the Biometric index finger print and picture for, he said they will be printed on the green card later. :)
Questions:
1. Are their explanation correct?
2. Does name check start without finger print?
3. Are we suppose to take the I-485 biometrics (index finger print) before the green card is produced?
Conclusions:
1. For those June-July filers last year, don't be frustrated if you have not got any finger print notice. If we got it in the near future, that means our name check is clear. The background check only takes less than 2 days. We will be ready to get the green card if the PD good.
2. Don't call USCIS to get the finger print notices. It didn't work at all, at least in my case.
